What Will You Learn?
Get closer to making your ultimate freediving goals a reality with the SSI Freediving Level 3 certification program. This is the highest level of freediving training and will help you discover your true potential as a freediver.
Using an in-depth combination of online learning and freediving sessions, you will maximize your skills and learn the techniques freediving world record holders use.
The SSI Freedivng Level 3 Course consists of three main phases:
- Four Academic Sessions (Independent study or in a classroom)
- Two Pool / Confined Water Sessions
- Five Open Water Dives- Where its time to use the knowledge and skills you acquired, in the open ocean to complete the SSI Freediving Level 3 Course
Maximum Training Depth : 40 meters / 130 feet
What Will You Do?
- Complete all academic sessions and assessments as outlined in the instructor manual for Freediving Level 3.
- Complete the program’s final exam.
- Complete at least one (1) stretching session as outlined in the instructor manual for Freediving Level 3.
- Complete at least one (1) coaching session as outlined in the instructor manual for Freediving Level 3.
- Complete at least one (1) mouth-fill session as outlined in the instructor manual for Freediving Level 3.
- Complete at least two (2) pool/confined water sessions as outlined in the instructor manual for Freediving Level 3.
- Complete at least five (5) open water sessions as outlined in the instructor manual for Freediving Level 3.
Course Schedule
Recommended hours for completion: 32-40. The number of classes, hours and sessions per day are set by the individual instructor, based on student needs, student ability and water conditions.

Course Prerequisites
Minimum age:
- 18 years old.
- Have logged at least 30 in-water freediving sessions.
Have the following SSI certifications or equivalent from a recognized training agency:
- Freediving Level 2
Equipment Requirements
Unless the program-specific instructor manual states otherwise, each freediving student must be equipped with a properly fitted Total Freediving System, including:
• Mask
• Snorkel
• Bi-fins(standard length or long freediving fins)
• Exposure suit appropriate for the environment
• Weight System
• Logbook
Students are required to wear a freediving safety lanyard if any of the following conditions apply:
• Level 2 Freediving programs and higher
• Vertical visibility is less than 10 meters
• The planned freedive is deeper than 20 meters in depth
• On any site where the natural bottom depth is 30 meters or deeper
*Equipment will be provided by your Dive Centre. We recommend that you should get your own gear once you become a certified diver.
