What Will You Learn?

The SSI Perfect Buoyancy specialty is the best way to improve your buoyancy and get the most from every dive.

Buoyancy is an essential dive skill, but any diver will tell you it takes time to perfect. The Perfect Buoyancy specialty will teach you advanced buoyancy skills and techniques, so you can master your buoyancy more quickly and enjoy more relaxed dive adventures. In this fascinating program, you will also learn new skills that protect the environment and work in every diving situation.

Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Perfect Buoyancy Specialty certification. With better buoyancy skills, you will soon be able to hover with ease and take the underwater photographs you dream of!

The SSI Perfect Buoyancy Course consists of two main phases:

  • Four Academic Sessions (Independent study or in a classroom)
  • Two Pool/Confined Water Sessions Dives – where its time to use the knowledge and skills you acquired, in the open ocean to complete the SSI Perfect Buoyancy Course.

Maximum Training Depth : 30 meters / 100 feet

What Will You Do?

  • Complete all academic sessions and assessments outlined in the instructor manual for Perfect Buoyancy.
  • Complete the program’s final exam.
  • Complete at least two (2) in-water training sessions as outlined in the instructor manual for Perfect Buoyancy

Course Schedule

Recommended hours for completion: 5-10. The number of classes, hours and sessions per day are set by the individual instructor, based on student needs, student ability and water conditions.

Minimum age:

  • 10 years old.

Have the following SSI certifications or equivalent from a recognized training agency:

  • Referral Diver

Equipment Requirements

During all in-water scuba training, each student must be equipped with a properly fitted Total Diving System:
• Mask
• Snorkel
• Fins
• Buoyancy compensator with power inflator
• Weight System
• Delivery System with cylinder, primary regulator and alternate air source
• Information System with submersible pressure gauge, depth gauge, and timing device (a dive computer is recommended)
• Exposure suit appropriate for the environment
• Logbook

*Equipment will be provided by your Dive Centre. We recommend that you should get your own gear once you become a certified diver.
